National liftshare Day 2006 is now less than one month away!
National liftshare Day will be taking place on Wednesday 14th June 2006. The aim of the day is to highlight the environmental benefits of car sharing and to raise awareness among members of the public of the savings they can make by sharing their fuel costs. On average a car sharer will save themselves around £1,100 a year by sharing their daily commute.
With over 38 million empty seats on the UK's roads every weekday it is vitally important that initiatives such as National liftshare Day are used to raise awareness of car sharing throughout the UK.
www.Liftshare.com is FREE for anyone to join simply by logging details of any journey they wish to make. The advanced matching software will then provide members with a map and details of others who are traveling the same way.
Over the last year more than 100 organizations have worked with liftshare to establish their own car share schemes. liftshare are now working with over 500 organisations nationally. Many of these will be undertaking their own promotion with several new car share schemes planning their launch to fall on 14th June itself. More information can on these events can be found at www.nationalLiftshareday.org.
This promotion along with the national media interest which is hoped for should do a lot to promote car sharing and will help us to do our bit towards helping the UK achieve its 2010 target of reducing CO2 emissions by 20% by increasing the average car occupancy from 1.6 - 2 people.
Register today and recommend the site to friends, family and colleagues and save yourself money whist doing your bit for the environment and helping us get wasted empty seats off the UK's roads.
