UK is urged to BUDi-up for TravelWise Week

www.liftshare.com is marking this years TravelWise Week (18th - 24th September 2006) by encouraging individuals to pledge their travel arrangements and find themselves a TravelBUDi. The TravelBUDi scheme has been designed to enable more people to give up single occupancy cars and to give walking, cycling, taxi-sharing and car-sharing a go. In doing so it is hoped that pollution and congestion can be reduced. Adopting one of these travel alternatives will also help people save themselves money in petrol costs and encourages them to adopt a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle. www.liftshare.com is available for everyone making any type of journey and aims to make the travelling experience safer, healthier and more enjoyable.
Liftshare's Managing Director, Ali Clabburn said:
"TravelWise Week aims to promote and encourage sustainable transport and healthy travel choices. Liftshare sees its role as providing the tools and support necessary to help achieve these aims. If we can make more people aware of the different options for sustainable travel and get more people giving it a try then everyone, including the environment, can benefit."
Anyone can register for free on-line at www.liftshare.org/travelwiseweek.asp and make a pledge to adopt a more sustainable mode of transport.
Liftshare are also running an on-line poll where visitors can nominate their preferred celebrity TravelBUDi. To vote in the poll simply go on-line at www.liftshare.com.
