BikeBUDi triumphs at coveted environmental awards

BikeBUDi triumphed at yesterdays Business Commitment to the Environment Awards winning the coveted Environmental Leadership Awards; Best Environmental Product for their national online route matching system. The award was presented yesterday by David Miliband MP at a ceremony in Central London. The innovative system, www.BikeBUDi.com introduces cyclists traveling in the same direction so that they can cycle together. The idea is not just to help current cyclists to find a BikeBUDi but also to encourage individuals who may be concerned about cycling to give it a go. By putting experienced cyclists in touch with those willing to give it a try it is hoped that this will reduce some of the usual reasons for not cycling. BikeBUDi was recognised for offering a unique leading product that significantly contributes to reducing C02 through services which aim to maximise efficient use of road space. The BCE awards recognise outstanding environmental excellence by businesses. It is run by business for business. The BCE Environmental Leadership Awards are the easiest to enter and the hardest to win. With 70 applications, just four companies won premier awards.

In support of the Awards and what they stand for Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, David Miliband commented "It is critical for businesses to show leadership...I think the opportunity for business is to push the boundaries of what seems possible......the businesses that have won awards today are examples that I will use to persuade others in the UK and internationally that addresses climate change does not damage competitiveness"
