"Festival-goers are generally known to have a real environmental commitment, and this is borne out by the fantastic number of them who have signed up to FestivalBUDi.com," said founder Ali Clabburn. "In total, more than 20,200 music fans have registered with the free site."
The money saved by sharing and the new friendships to be made are also a strong draw for many people deciding how to get to a music festival.
"Car-sharing was brilliant because it reduced our travel costs drastically," said Olly Cotterell, who car-shared to Creamfields Festival from York. "And as a result of sharing with four complete strangers, I also managed to make four great friends who I still keep in contact with."
