The nationwide car-sharing network was short-listed by a stellar judging panel - including Colin Firth, Kate Humble, Ben Fogle and "dragon" Deborah Meaden - for its contribution to the environment and its pro bono work in helping local communities.
"It was incredibly exciting for us to be selected out of thousands of applicants," said founder Ali Clabburn. "The message we take away from this great accolade is that all the work we are doing to support communities has put us at the forefront of ethical enterprises."
The lifetime achievement award went to Gordon Roddick, who co-founded the Body Shop and the Big Issue (pictured here with the Observer's environmental reporter, Lucy Siegle, and actor-campaigner Colin Firth).
