Ali is being recognised for founding www.Liftshare.com, the UK’s largest carsharing network. believe they have found the ideal solution to today’s transport problems, significantly reducing CO2 emissions whilst simultaneously reducing the cost of petrol for individuals.
is a free-to-use website designed to reduce travel costs, congestion and pollution, enabling everyone to share lifts to any destination in the UK. Schemes for businesses are also available through the site.
Kevin Steele, Chief Executive of the Make Your Mark campaign and competition organiser, says: “We received some amazing entries this year from young people who have really made their mark. The finalists are 25 really strong contenders. We hope that their stories will provide the inspiration for other young people to follow their lead and make their ideas happen.”
are also still reeling from their recent success at becoming the East of England winners of the Chamber of Commerce Award for Business Commitment to the Community 2005. Being regional finalists means that are through to the national final to win the £25,000 Award for Outstanding Business Achievement. The winner is to be announced at The Royal Courts of Justice in London on November 24th 2005.
Ali explains:
“We were overjoyed at the news that we had been selected as regional winner of the Chamber Awards again this year. Being in the final for the Enterprising Young Brits and Chamber of Commerce Awards is a great way to recognise the work which has been done by our fantastic team in getting car sharing in the UK to where it is today. It helps us to increase the awareness of car sharing within the Environment and Transport industries, gaining the support necessary to make car sharing a mainstream form of transport in the UK”.
