Case studies - LloydsTSB

LloydsTSB share City Park campus with Legal and General. They set up a liftshare scheme as a result of their joint aim to reduce carbon emissions in the Brighton and Hove area and reduce traffic in the area around the site. A drive towards car-sharing is helping the site occupiers to meet the objectives that they have set.

Although the car park is opened up to everyone for the evening shift, LloydsTSB staff have to have their registration numbers listed as the BUDi team name, otherwise they don’t get a car-parking space during core working hours. There are only 130 spaces and 800 employees, so people are keen to get a space!

With 24% of their workforce in a BUDi team, they have significantly surpassed their original target of 15%. Within six months, they had over 200 members with a 72% journey-match rate.

“This is a very successful scheme. It’s a great way to encourage staff to use green methods of transport to work. The funny thing is that people who had been working together for five or six years on various Brighton campuses but never knew each other have now got to know each other through car-sharing!”

liftshare was chosen for its simplicity of use and friendly approach and has proven a great success - with over 800 members using the system - and has proven an integral part of our Green Travel Plan which has now been recognised as one of the top 15 Green Travel plans in the country.”
