liftshare Week (4th - 8th October 2010)

It used to be National liftshare Day, but now it's five times better! The first ever liftshare Week takes place from 4th-8th October.

liftshare Week aims to encourage and enable more people to discover the benefits of car-sharing. Help your staff, colleagues and friends to start sharing their cars, saving money and being kinder to the environment by publicising the event with these posters and flyers.

Read on for ideas and inspiration!

Here's WHY businesses and communities should get involved

liftshare Week is a vital marketing tool in making any car-share scheme a success. Whether you have your own liftshare scheme or not, you can use the event to help your staff or community. Car-sharing helps you in the following areas:

  • Saving money in car park management
  • Meeting travel plan targets
  • Meeting CO2 reduction targets
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Business continuity planning
  • Increasing employment catchment areas
  • Helping to alleviate social exclusion

Here's WHY individuals should get involved

  • Car-sharing can be used for any type of journey at any time, making it the cheapest and most flexible form of transport around
  • It saves you money on petrol costs
  • It helps you do your bit for the environment
  • It increases employment opportunities
  • It makes boring solo journeys sociable and fun
  • It reduces stress by allowing you to be chauffer-driven!!
  • You don't even need a car to sign up to be a car-sharer. Many members are willing to do the driving in return for a contribution to their fuel costs and some friendly company!

With petrol prices hitting an all-time high this year, liftshare Week is the perfect time to find a car-sharer - so you can start saving money, reducing your impact on the environment and meeting new people.

Here's HOW businesses and communities can get involved

If you DO have a car-share scheme, liftshare Week is the perfect opportunity to promote it either internally to staff and colleagues, or externally to the general public. Just log onto your Monitoring Pages for loads of ideas and customisable publicity material. You can also call the Client Account Management Team on 01953 451166 if you'd like some one-to-one help.

If you DON'T have your own liftshare scheme, but would like to encourage car-sharing between your colleagues or customers, you could try some of the steps below:

  • Set up a prominent link to www.liftshare.com on your website, enabling people in your company / community to register their journeys (free of charge);
  • Download some of the posters from this page and put them up around your building(s);
  • Set up a car-share scheme for your organisation or community by visiting www.liftshare.com/business.

Here's HOW individuals can get involved

  1. Register your journey and find someone to travel with;
  2. Tell your friends / family and colleagues about liftshare with our Tell a Friend facility;
  3. Promote car-sharing using our promotional materials, which you can download for free;
  4. Put a car-sticker in your back windscreen! The person in the car behind might well be going your way, but have no idea that they could be sharing with you...
  5. Tell your friends about all the benefits of car-sharing. To make it easy for you, just copy and paste the text from this email, and send it to all those you think ought to give it a try.
  6. Encourage your employer to do more to promote car-sharing in the work place. Many hundreds of companies around the UK have liftshare schemes, and these are playing an important role in reducing local pollution and congestion, saving staff (and your organisation) a lot of money, easing parking problems and reducing staff stress. They can find out more from www.liftshare.com/business.

Promotional Materials

Posters

Help inspire lots more people to car-share by displaying our fun "WANTED" posters!

If you have your own liftshare scheme, and would like customised posters, you can download them on your Monitoring Pages or email liftshareweek@liftshare.com.

Flyers

Hand out flyers at car park entrances, do desk-drops round the office, give them out from a special liftshare Week stand... flyers are versatile and ideal for getting people to take away with them. Our "WANTED" flyers include more information about car-sharing on the back, to help you explain to potential members what it's all about.

Just print them out, turn the paper over and print again, then guillotine them in half and - bingo! - you have two-sided flyers to distribute.

If you have your own liftshare scheme, and would like customised flyers, you can download them on your Monitoring Pages or email liftshareweek@liftshare.com.

Use our logo!

Help spread the word by downloading our liftshare Week logo, and adding it to your own website or work intranet. Link it through to www.liftshare.com and help your colleagues and friends find someone to share with...
