Chairman of the Transport Planning Society, Martin Tugwell said:

"The Executive Committee of the Society have been immensely impressed by the way in which you have set up and then established Liftshare.com as an organisation.

The pressures that our transport system faces are considerable and grow ever more intense. The need to manage the capacity of the transport system is in itself a challenge, convincing individuals that they can do things differently and still maintain their daily routines is an even greater one. The contribution of Liftshare.com is therefore one that the Society wants to acknowledge publicly as an example of how transport planners are able to provide the leadership necessary to successfully address the challenges that lie ahead."

Ali initially established www.liftshare.com whilst a student at Bristol University. Over the last nine years liftshare has developed and evolved the UK's leading car share solution providing car share matches to more than 123,000 members who between them are sharing more than 29.3 million car miles and saving the UK almost nine thousand tonnes of CO2 each year.
