Thousands BUDi-up for TravelWise Week
28/09/2006

liftshare are pleased to announce that during TravelWise Week 2006 almost 3000 people took part in the campaign to engage with sustainable travel options.

liftshare received more than 350 pledges from individuals who committed to try cycling, walking, taxi-share or car-sharing between 18 - 24th September and more than 1,000 new members joined up to the liftshare network to find a match. The aim of the campaign was not only to raise awareness of the options available but to give people the opportunity to get together with others and experiment with the alternatives. Car sharing proved the most popular option for voters, with cycling coming a close second. liftshare member, Kate Norbury, fed back her experiences:

"My Colleague and I have really enjoyed and benefited from car sharing. It is much nicer to have company going in to work and also the fact you can save so much on petrol!"

liftshare also ran a Celebrity Poll where visitors to the website www.liftshare.com were asked to vote for the celebrity they would most like to travel with. The run away winner with almost 50% of the vote was the recently injured Richard Hammond.
