The international expertise of Liftshare was recognised in Portugal last week, when founder and MD Ali Clabburn was invited to speak at the country's annual Communications Conference in Lisbon (11-13 November).
The theme of this year's conference was the role of the telecommunications industry in combating climate change, and Ali addressed the delegates during a session on how Web 2.0 can drive social change. Other speakers included the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, the president of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, and experts from IBM, Cambridge University, Google and Microsoft.
"It is so exciting to think that Liftshare is now a global example to others interested in using the web to improve their triple bottom line," said Ali. "The Portuguese were fantastic hosts and I learnt a lot from the other speakers on the future of ICT. Exciting times are ahead!"
The Portuguese economic newspaper, Oje, also featured a double-page spread on Ali and Liftshare.
