liftshare welcomes HOV lane on the M1

liftshare.com, the UK 's largest car-sharing scheme, today welcomed the Government's announcement that a High Occupancy Vehicle lane will be trialled on the M1 from Autumn 2005.
“We're overjoyed that the government is recognising the benefits of car-sharing. Initiatives such as HOV lanes are an ideal way of encouraging and rewarding people for using their cars more efficiently, and should help to achieve real reductions in congestion”, says Imogen Martineau, Development Manager at liftshare.com.
liftshare.com has been promoting car-sharing since 1997 and more than 63,000 people have now registered on their national database at www.Liftshare.com . liftshare also provides car-sharing schemes to more than 400 companies, councils and community groups across the UK – thereby helping to improve access whilst reducing congestion, pollution and the costs of travel.
“With the introduction of HOV lanes we hope to see a dramatic increase in the number of people car-sharing as more and more people recognise the time and cost savings that can be made”, said Imogen. “Overall, we're very pleased about this announcement and look forward to seeing the HOV lane in place sometime next year”.
